Finally. Far too many battles. What in god’s name leads me to in france to believe they should walk across Europe & attack and attempt to conquer Egypt? When read thru a contemporary lens, Napoleon and his ilk just seem too egotistical, murderous, and idiotic. I should have been happy to have France.

Author makes some unsupported or dramatic conclusions here without adequate evidence imo, but otherwise adds to the history of these women and what it was like to grow up in the family of Churchill. Imagine a livelier, more challenging, or difficult family life! A worthwhile if quick read.

Are u detecting a theme yet for Dec 2024? Still deeply curious about the history surrounding Churchill & the cooperative relationship between the UK & US during the lead up & prosecution of WW2. Having been to Churchill’s War Rooms in London, his country home in Kent, and read the superb biography of his mother, Jennie Jerome, I was interested in this next generation of Churchill women.
