This book had me from the first sentence. I was intrigued by the palpable pain of the protagonist and her mystery. The descriptive language was alluring and comforting, even as the subject matter was painful.

I was initially concerned about the author's use of fighting imagery, as I think it cues the fight, flight, freeze and fawn response. Just finished chapter 2 and thankfully he is offering a different solution.
