Look the Aeluon are cool but this is simply not how evolution works. Idc what planet you're on, a species where the majority of females are only able to produce one offspring, with many never reproducing, is just not viable. They would never have made it out of their version of the primordial ooze

I'm generally really liking this book but I don't appreciate what the author is saying about animals not having language. "A whale couldn't tell another whale how to do a surgery" uhhh how do you know?? Do you speak whale?? An orca can literally remove and eat JUST the liver of a great white shark. They could teach medicine if they wanted to and you will never ever convince me otherwise
