So far, so disappointed. And I LOVE Wally Lamb. Some of my favorite reading experiences have been courtesy of him (She's Come Undone for one, I Know This Much is True for another). This book has flashes of his brilliance, mostly in the flashback "film" scenes, but a lot of it is self-pandering, boring, stop-the-momentum bloat (the Rheingold Girls article is one prime example. Hope he redeems himself by the end.

I was excited to read this, but at over 100 pages, it’s still all concept with very little story. Yes, we know the main character is an alienated teenage girl with a fixation on slasher movies. We know because the author has told us about a hundred times. Does this get better? Or should I abandon and move on the next book?
