Refreshing. Instructive. Researched. Tangible. One of the most relevant books on Christian formation that I’ve read 😳
So good.

Another perspective on the fear of man conversation. This has been more up my alley than Ed Welch and reflects more of Tim Keller.

Some more take-aways:
- the experience of shame can cause the brain to disintegrate— it’s different pathways disconnect. So logical thinking about a shame experience is “blocked”

- our lives model our brains disintegration through relational isolation

- shame= I *am* bad; self-consumed
- guilt= I *did* bad; attempt to fix something done towards someone else

SUPER good 👌🏻Here are some of my take-aways so far:

- shame many times cannot be described in words but in sensations. It is a sensation that we are not enough or do not have what it takes.

- shamed people shame people.

- shame creates a deadly cycle of isolation from the very source of healing— people.

- shame disguises itself within other emotions (anxiety is a big one)
