It does take a little adjustment to switch between the comic book and chapter book, but I am enjoying it so far.

Reading this one as a two man book club with a student. We just finished chapter 1., and I am hooked!

Love the idea of "instructional dates" with poetry! She has a way with words, that's for sure.

Tara is on page 9 of 188 of Igniting a Passion for Reading: Successful Strategies for Building Lifetime Readers
The idea of aliteracy and how it will eventually impact our country is something I haven't really contemplated until now. Ouch! Really puts the need for our kids to develop a desire to read into perspective.

Tara is reading The Book Thief
This book is really hard to get into. I am still confused how the grim reaper is telling the story if he isn't there. How does he have time to watch Liesel all day long?

So far, I think this book is definitely for secondary instruction. However, I like the idea of the conversation calendars. I think this gives kids an opportunity to have a conversation without the pressure so many feel when in whole group.
