Darrow is forced to chose whether to give anti-rad meds to his fighters and save them or spread them thinly with the civilians. He's advised not to give some to civilians because they'll only last a week. On top of that, Atalantia had met with Darrow telling him that his wife has lost Luna. Darrow decided to let his friends decide on how to move forward.

Darrow and his legions won Heliopolis, but they are all suffering from the lack of supplies. They are running out of anti-rads, and without them, many are starting to feel the effects of radiation poisoning, including Darrow. Darrow's astonished by the number of refugees saved by Alexander and house Arcos. Darrow expected about 1,000, but thousands of refugees flow in. Sadly Alexander doesn't follow.

Darrow is absolutely exhausted. Every part of him is failing, and his body is starting to give up. He still wants to lead the charge and kill the remaining of Atalanta's forces, but he just can't anymore. His exhaustion forces him to rest within a hidden place in Heliopolis. His forces don't fail him because hours later, they return with insignias and things stolen from the forces they killed winning the day.

Darrow's plan to use the storm gods has been derailed. Orion betrayed him and used the storm gods to produce a storm much stronger than initially planned. It's going to stop Atalanta's forces but kill civilians in the process. Darrow is forced to use his safeguard and kill Orion, one of the few heroes left to him. Alexander asks Darrow permission to leave for the city to try to save civilian lives.

Ajax is still determined to try to reach Heliopolis and attack the city as their original plan intended. Lysander and Seraphina knew it would be almost certain death. They decide that Lysander and Seraphina will split from Ajax with their army splitting as well. Both parties leave on their way to their separate destinations. All while Darrow rides the Drachenjäger and kills whoever they come across.

Lysander is worried his presence will cause a power struggle against him and Atalantia, but he reassures himself, and they continue. Suddenly, they see a huge tidal wave of sand moving towards them at a tremendous speed. This causes their group to disperse, running to try to escape the wave. Unfortunately, it catches up to them, swallowing people one by one and tearing unarmored things to shreds.

Lysander and Ajax make it to the ground and are soaked into the battle long enough for Lysander to realize how horrible war is. He says how he can no longer let his guard down and must pay attention to everything because they could be attacked at any time. They're surprised when a group of soldiers that are loyal to house Lune. Since Lysander is the last Lune alive, they choose to follow him.

Lysander is allowed to fall in the reign and prepares for the launch. He explains how everyone is pumped full fluids to make them more savage for the reign. Since he doesn't have a scar, and no one knows his name, everyone doesn't treat him with respect. Then Lysander meets with Ajax to get in their start shell. In the star shell, he's filled with terror as he starts to get a taste of war.

Rona is shielded by Darrow and the howlers, as an atomic lands on the city next to them. Darrow's struck dumb as he realized what's happening but contacts the control room in the city. He tells them to think of their families and loved ones and as they close their eyes. The video feed cuts out as the atomic lands and vaporizes a huge part of the city.

Darrow is prepared for the battle after seeing the carnage left in one of the society's golds path. Darrow reaches an outpost, and after the original plan falls through, he meets with his forces and tells them they will fight with him and his friends. The cool part is that they are going to use Drachenjäger, which are basically huge metal mechs! They prepare when suddenly they see something in the distance.

After some negotiation, Lysander's able to get them to join forces against Darrow. As the Raa leave, Lysander is left with Altanatia and Ajax. They are mad that he stayed with Cassius so long and tell him their plan to attack Mercury. They are going to have an Iron Reign on Mercury. Lysander immediately asks to be a part of it to finally get a scar and some respect.

Lysander was forced to give some DNA to be scanned. All so Atanlantia could be sure he's actually a Lune. He complies, and the results show a positive match, which leads to Atlantia and Ajax welcoming him the way he expected. They apologized, and he was told they had to be sure. Then Diomedes and Seraphina are introduced to Atalantia and Ajax and discuss a possible alliance between the remaining society and the rim.

We return to Lysander, who had traveled with Diomedes and Seraphina into the core to meet with Atalantia. Lysander has grown a liking to the rim golds with respect for Romulus. They reach the ships of Atalantia and are taken to meet with her and Ajax. Lysander knew Ajax as a brother when they were young and is excited to meet him and Atalantia again. Unexpectedly, when he sees them, they're suspicious of who he is.

After Orion had been saved from being captured and tortured, everyone notices that she doesn't seem to be the same. She walks around their ship more often and for longer, so Darrow heads to speak with her. He finds her sitting staring at the stars as he sits to join her. They speak to one another and, Orion starts to share some negative views on the republic and democracy.

Darrow and his skeleton crew get onto the ship where Orion is being held captive. He runs into Ajax, and narrowly surviving a fight, finds the room where Orion is. She had clearly been tortured horribly but still hails the reaper when she sees Darrow again. They escape to their ship and land on Mercury, where they are stuck because of Antalantias ships around the planet.

We get back to Darrow, who just missed the attack by Atalantia after traveling 3 weeks to Mercury. The ships around Mercury were decimated. A surprise attack by Atalantia caught them off guard. Darrow is saddened that one of his closes allies Orion, had been taken captive. They plan to go and rescue her from captivity.

They find the Ashlord a withered husk of the man he used to be. They are enraged that they gave up so much time and energy to get to a man who's already dying. The Ashlord tells them that his daughter has taken his place and is already on her way to the republic. They were too late that this enrages them. They burn the Ashlord to death. Darrow decides to protect the republic instead of returning to his family.

They serve the fight and search for the Ashlord. They rush to find the room where the Ahslord is supposed to be. They storm through the door expecting enemies, but it's just a room with 2 low colors and a bed facing the other direction. They walk in and easily neutralize the low colors. With no other assailants, they explore the room to find that in the bed, there is an old and withered Ashlord.

Darrow is has reached the hiding place of the Ashlord. Around the island, they find a dead zone where all tech goes dart. Behind the curtain is where Darrow believes the Ashlord is hiding. Darrow and his friends use star shells to get past the curtain and find it's heavily defended. As they rushed the island, they get somewhat overwhelmed, but with the help of Apollonius, they survive the fight.

Ephriam's able to meet with the Duke. He's able to incapacitate the Duke and leave to get to the children. They reach the children and escape, but before they can get onto their getaway ship, Ephriam is shot through the Duke. He's able to get into the ship with the children and escape. Unluckily, the ship is remote-controlled, but Epriam blows a part of the ship up, causing the ship to spin and fall out of the sky.

Lysander is forced to see Cassius try to sacrifice himself to stop an impending war, but Lysander intervenes. Lysander is exported to his room, but while he waits, news reaches him that Cassius was killed anyways. Lysander is destroyed by the news, forced to become a man as everyone he cared about is gone. With Lyria, she starts to forgive Ephriam, and she's surprised to see her Sovereign asking for her forgiveness.

Ephriam finds that Holiday and Lyria are on the ship to capture him. He's surprised but doesn't comply. Holiday shows him that Volga had been captured and could be killed if he doesn't help them. This forces him to comply. They discuss a plan to find Pax and Electra. They decide that Ephriam must meet with the Duke of Hands and send a signal to his location. They decide on that plan, and Ephriam arranges to meet.

Ephriam and Volga get in a fight about why they did the job. Volga shares that she did the job to try to help him since he only helped her. Ephriam tells her she shouldn't have, which hurts her feelings. Volga leaves and doesn't come back. Ephriam leaves to their ship to Earth where they can hideout. He waits and waits, but Volga doesn't seem to be coming with him. Then he notices something. The ship is quiet.

Suddenly Mustang/The Sovereign walks into the room. She is enraged that an oracle still survives since she ordered them all to be killed. The Sovereign kills the oracle attached to Lyria tells everyone to leave. Now it's just Lyria, Mustang, and Holiday. They talk about what happened, and Lyria leads them to find that Ephriam Ti Horn had his fingerprints on the gun, Lyria had been given. They leave to find him.

The Lionguard, lead by Holiday, takes Lyria to an interrogation room. Lyria looks and sees Kavax's wife and another Telemanus. Lyra tried to tell Niobe what happened, but she's quickly silenced. Niobe is enraged, believing that she helped infiltrate their house and the republic, nearly killing Kavax. Lyria tries to prove she isn't lying, but no one believes her. They decided to use an oracle.

As Ephriam meets with the Duke of Hands about his successful heist, Lyria starts to run away. Obsidians follow her, but she escapes through the vents. She's able to get out, and now, she's trying to traverse the city without getting caught. She manages to get to some tracks that allow her to find a way to the higher levels of the city. As she tries to go even further above, she's stopped by the lion guard.

Ephriam and his crew get Pax, Electra, and Lyria. Ephriam also takes Lyira since she'll be hunted as a terrorist after this. She had the necklace that caused the situation. They leave but are given trouble by Kavax, who kills one of Ephriam's crew members. They're able to escape but are not behind schedule because of also taking Lyria. They get to the drop-off point where Pax and Electra are searched for trackers.

The drone spreads a gas that makes it hard to move even their eyelids. One by one, everyone on the plane starts to feel the effects of the gas, seemingly falling asleep, with the larger golds like Kavax falling last. The plane suddenly falls out of the sky, falling to the lower levels of the city. It ends up in a warehouse. Ephraim and his crew enter the plane and search for their prize, Pax and Electra.

The party-goers start to leave, and soon the Telemaluses do as well. Lyria follows the rest of the Telemaluses to their ship and thinks about the consequences of her encounter with Pax. Lyria thinks that Pax will tell Virginia, leading to her being kicked out. Still, she boards her ship with Kavax, Pax, and other party-goers. As they flew the necklace that Lyria suddenly comes alive and out leaves a drone.

Lyria meets Pax. She enjoys his company finding it strange he's so kind. After talking about Pax's love for racing, Pax asks Lyria about the mines. This confuses her since he shouldn't know about her past, but after Pax reveals that he read her history, Lyria is furious. She is enraged that all the kindness was just pity and that he wants to feel bad for her family's death.
