Good disturbed serial killer vibes going on. Story congealing…

I like the idea of peace and harmony within and amongst family and society, but as I read this two things rubbed me slightly the wrong way emitted all the positive vibes.It tries to tell you how to think - this is good. This is bad. etc I can determine those things on my own. The other is that most of it is way too peaceful, and this world requires you to have an edge. I appreciate the positivity of the book thus far

Delving into Montanari’s first ever book after liking Dont Look Now and Kiss of Evil.

it feels clunky off the bat you can sense the set up for the plot and the artsy attempt to writing it with flair. but I like the premise thus far and the Initial kill was pretty good. Nothing shocking

Read Deviant Way (Dont Look Now) and Kiss of Evil - found these sex crime detective stories to be gritty like cities streets at night, and were interesting to read. So Im going back to this authors first novel, a stand alone story, before I consider diving into one of his 'series'.

I’m giving up on this. There were aspects of this that I liked. The desolation and certainty of imminent death. But the cans. I couldn’t get past the section on the can soldering. It was unbearable. I could have skipped past it I guess but I don’t read like that. I watched the miniseries. It was good,

Im not knocking the book, but part of the terror is the helplessness you feel stuck 300 pages into it reading pages about how well the cans are soldered and the history of them and how they were traditionally canned, but in this case... The characters all feel like sentient meals that I feel sorta bad will die, because you know they will. Its a slow death for some, quick and violent for most in this one.

The only terror I'm feeling is that I have 600 fkg pages to go!

Damn - nobody lives long in this book - better learn who the last in command is. Feel like Ive learned about how hard it was to find this Northern passage by ship. Absolute terror in itself. Its a slow read but solid as shit

Slow but steadily improving

Ooh this ones gonna be good. Two ships carving the northern Arctic passage. One's story is two years before the other. Something crazy going on out there in the dark. I imagine the first ship crashed and is going hungry. Who.knows what hell lies ahead.

Not award winning, but good zombie violence and mayhem. Good turns, deaths, and easy flowing plot. Now I'm just curious to know if any of these ppl will survive.

All the best characters are overlooked for hillbilly PA white trash. Ugh

This ain't the Bert I remember from the film. Totally different story. Some interesting ties on where it would have led from the man that penned NOTLD. Lot of kids dead. Disturbing. But then again this predicament would victimize all especially the most innocent and defenseless. Bert got hurt.

In the home stretch. Predictable thus far. Well written but nothing jaw dropping going on. Ropes...

The mythos battle was stretched out and lengthy. Glad to be out of it and wrap up the story. 100p to go

Anyone else find that this book us a little stuck in the mud with this endless diner story with The Fisherman and Rainer chopping ropes on the edge of an ocean abyss? alright already.

This is some thick lovecraftian type shit. Langan is a better writer than me or you. The way he's building this plot and insta-backgrounding these characters with such nuance and detail is next level skillz

Detailed. Told like a fisherman's tale. Keeps going back as opposed to forward. Long pages, no paragraphs. Touches on some dark creepy shit. They need to stay away from that creek
