I enjoyed the first book in this series more than this 2nd in the trilogy, perhaps because it had more detail about alchemical imagery. I was mesmerized by the intertwining with modern DNA and the science of genetics. name-dropping in this segment of the story (set in Elizabethan London), distracts me from the main story. Still, I am enjoying it overall and look forward to the third in the series.
