This guy has done nothing but walk around and drive around aimlessly for 40 pages. I really hope this isn't setting the pace for the rest of the book.

What has my reason been given to me for, if I am not to make use of it to avoid bringing unhappy human beings into the world? I should always feel guilty toward those unhappy children. If they do not exist, they are not unhappy, and if they are unhappy, I alone should be to blame for it.
