It’s very interesting and very well written. It’s impressive how the author can present the information without any hint of bias.

The problem is that terrorism and torture are not fun lighthearted reading material… and work has been heavy lately, so I’m going to put this one on the shelf for a while to instead go read some relaxing light fiction.

Well WTF that is twice this week that I have been burned by reading the author’s introduction. (Crossing was the other one.)

I get that this book is 40 years old or w/e, but don’t put a major plot spoiler of a character’s end of story death on page 5 of the introduction to that story. Annoying.

Looking beyond the caustic prose, I do agree with some of the authors’ assessments of the failings of modern western culture.

I do not agree with their assessment that the solution to fix our culture is a violent uprising to install an authoritarian communist regime.

I still find it interesting to read passionate material from alternative viewpoints.

Always interesting to read a book that’s content is legitimately inflammatory to the point of getting it banned or put on gov’t watch lists.

At points so far I find the writing style to be pretty cringey. It’s like a 17 year old edgelord just dripping with condescension for their peers because they enjoy bread and circus and working a job instead of heeding the author’s call to have a violent revolution.
