Might just be the fact I’ve read them back to back, but there are already similarities between this book and King of Battle and Blood.
(This came out in 2020, while KoBaB came out in 2021 btw)
The mist, a scary “other” race, and even something as small as “midnight roses”/the gardens in general.
Taking it a little past “inspiration from”.

“Such a speech and yet all I hear is your fear of something not like you.”

Not written well enough for all the characters to be this psychotic. Not sure what actions they could take to redeem themselves in the next 80%

I am so confused and intrigued. This book is not what I was expecting.
Enjoying it so far though!

Putting on pause… it’s a very slow paced book and I need something a little snappier for the time being.

Thinking about DNFing for now. Just not really into the story at this point.
