Bob is finished with Taroniah at Large (Ithria Book 7)
Good series with interesting chara ters and plot. There are two main character/plot lines which start integrating rather late in theday, but otherwise an enjoyable read.

A great kids' / YA series that adults' inner children might also enjoy. A great mish-mash of magic, myth, and steampunkery. Not as serious as Harry Potter, but well-plotted and populated by interesting characters. Quality-wise I'd say more entertaining than Percy and with a touch of Skullduggery Pleasant's verve. I'm enjoying it anyway!

Easy reading comedy thriller that would probably make an entertaining movie. I enjoyed the first in this series, but this one is better.

Bob is finished with Cradle of Oblivion (Gods of Distant Suns Book 1)
A great start to a series: original, and with a foot in both the politico-military thriller and the science fiction camps. I'm feeling frustrated that volume two won't be out till later in the year - this is one that made me want to binge-read!

Bob is finished with The Falling Empires Saga (The Complete Series, Books 1-4)
Like Joe Abercrombie with a Napoleonic touch and, !ike Joe, with strongly depicted battle scenes that, by their very nature, get a bit repetitive after a while. That said though, the characters have depth and humanity, the dialogue is convincing, and the series is well-plotted. If you're more into military fantasy than I am, you'll probably enjoy this immensely.

Bob is finished with Pratchett's Women: Unauthorised Essays on Female Characters of the Discworld
An analysis of female representation in Terry's novels. Interesting and well-written, it definitely changed my view of this theme in general as well as in Discworld books. My only point of disagreement is with her analysis of Monstruous Regiment in which, despite the many examples of fine dialogue she cites, I found the plot got more and more predictable as it went on.

Bob is finished with imPerfect Magic (The imPerfect Cathar, #1)
A very clever mingling of meticulously researched history, the author's personal knowledge of Toulouse, and an urban fantasy narrative that has echoes of Rivers of London and the Harry Dresden series. I have enjoyed the first two booms, and also learned a lot!

Bob is finished with Renegade Star: The Complete Series (Renegade Star, #1-16)
Excellent series, strong sympathetic characters, and a space opera with enough complexity and depth to maintain interest over 16 volumes.

Bob
Bob is finished with Eastgate (Robert Hoon Thrillers #4)
Robert Hoon is aptly named: a rampaging force of nature, fortunately on our side. Reminiscent of Caimh McDonell's Bunny McGarry but with slightly less accent on the humour (although still pretty funny) and a fair bit more on the capacity for solving problems with his fists. This series is vastly entertaining, and Hoon's facility with inventive obscenity and insult only adds to the fun (and carnage).

Bob is finished with Debt of War (The Embers of War, #3)
An excellent rendition of the alliances, betrayals, and tactics in a civil war set within a multi-planetary empire. Characters, dialogue, and settings are all convincingly rendered, and the story is eminently readable.

Bob is finished with Vale of the Gods (Furyck Saga, #6)
Excellent series that really draws the reader into the world of the Furycks. Head and shoulders above most Kindle Unlimited fantasy and definitely NOT "Mills and Boon with Vampires". Much more readable and interesting than Wheel of Time, and edging near Game of Thrones status.
