Here's the thing. I can't read this anymore.

This series is unnecessary literature. Apparently it's a "classic". I suppose most classic fantasy written by men tends to treat women like sexualized infants or bland garbage. I genuinely cannot express how much I disrespect this book. From casually abusing women to writing them like vapid props for shitty Severian, I would highly suggest you leave this series in the 90s, and find something more modern.

I'm trying. I'm genuinely trying to get through this. Sometimes I'm engrossed other times the meandering attempts at being overly intellectual alongside the depiction of women gives me acid reflux.

The way Gene writes women makes me want to go back to 1994 and punch him in his incognizant face

Gene has taught me about 80 new words already. What in the heck kind of upbringing leads to such a vast and lost vocabulary??? Fascinating

The almost celebrated level of idiocy these women demonstrate is unforgivable.

Did I rant about this already? But I swear to Usires if Williams kills Isgrimnur and/or any of his family members I will ensure this series is on every cultural banned book list because the world deserves at least the most basic conception of justice. I would rather Miriamele or Simon die than Isgrimnur, or watch Isgrimnur grieve a family member. Tad Williams, I mean this.

I feel like I've been reading this book my whole life but my kindle still says "25 hours left in book..." ! (!!)

I swear I've been reading this since early December. It's taking me forever to get hooked. I'm still not. But I'm determined. Let's do this, Tad!!!

Such a strange, delightful read! I am hooked.

Captured my interest from the get-go and there's a talking cat. Well, a demonic, immortal elemental, constrained into cat-form through a magic collar, who provides servitude and sardonic camaraderie to the main character. As with all great novels...

I'm reading this at a snail's pace. Hopefully it gets more interesting. So far there's a lot thrown at the reader and I'm not yet grabbed by any of it. Not giving up though!

Didn't even finish the free preview and I bought it. Ready to see what happens in the galaxy war

This book is delightful. I had no idea what it was about when I opened it. Further it just throws you right into the world, which meant a few pages of floundering, but I quickly found my bearings and am marvelling at the intense creativity - intense whimsy? - that shapes the story.

Good bless Tolki, whose writing philosophy just might be: why say in three words what you could say in seventeen to sixty eight sentences + a song?
