We’re gonna pretend the movie doesn’t exist. I haven’t watched it but i know its a gutted and defiled corpse of this book so for my sanity it doesn’t exist.

For all this, nature is never spent; there lives the dearest freshness deep down things.

Here from Martyr! because Kaveh Akbar reached into my soul and turns out that’s his job i guess

Cried reading the first poem ever because holy shit it’s the first poem ever

Poetry as prayer as meditation as in thinning the partition between a person and a divine

This collection “exists in opposition to the colonial impulse.” :)

Much among mortals I am..
Greek word for “much” is untranslatable bc it came to English as the prefix ‘poly-‘. “She is not claiming omnipotence but rather universal access.”
She (and Artemis) understand flesh and change. Hippolytus claims to in hubris, and Aphrodite claims 3 victims as consequence. To abandon Aphrodite is suicide and murder.
Aphrodite’s breath is felt / on everything there is.

I know what it is to feel that urge to build a small heaven, or many small heavens, ones that you cannot take with you, but cannot be taken from you.
