700 pages! OMG. There had BETTER be some closure for the dropped storylines in the last book or else why do we need all these pages??

A 36 year old man saying he was devastated by Kurt Cobain's death... My dude you were 8 years old at best (this was written in 2022). Dis author is too old to remember that the 1990s weren't ten years ago I guess.

I'm really embarrassed to be reading this but I bought it a long time ago and I don't have anything else to read. I need to build up my TBR really bad.

I've seen this recommended a million times so I'm trying it. It's a trope I don't particularly care for (bisexual awakening for the "straight" guy) and the "straight" main character is another walking trope (Golden retriever himbo). I don't know how far I'll get, but I've been reading some heavy stuff lately, so I'll try it as a palate cleanser. I'm kind of annoyed so far, though. I think I'm too old for this stuff.

I just read a rant on a book blog about authors who write in present tense and didn't really know what they were taking about since I've never read one. Well...this book is in present tense and it is extra awful. I think the author believes that active voice and present tense are one and the same or else has never read a book in present tense to realize how awful it is.

That moment when a white American author who has had problematic issues with racism and misanthropy in former books calls a person "Desi woman" in his book... OMG. Honest to goodness, who's proofreading for this guy? 🤦

I've never read f/f before, but it's part of the series. It's definitely never going to be my thing, but so far it's a good addition to the series.

It's my project this summer to listen to all of my unread audiobooks. Most of them are TJ Klune audiobooks, but I'm pretty sure this is my last one. Actually I think I've got that vacuum robot one left but I haven't even read the paper book yet.

This is one of those "extreme secondhand embarrassment" books...

I forgot how cringey this one was. Sandy, a white man, legitimately just said "I almost lost because my inner black woman wanted to bring the pain." I can't believe TJ Klune hasn't edited his books to take all the racist/racial profiling stuff out of them. I'm so embarrassed for him.

I'm drinking the Kool-Aid. This is the most recced book I've seen in 2024 and I'm sick of seeing it without knowing if it's worth the hype. The last hyped book I tried to read was that Monster series by Lily Mayne, and it was absolutely average and even boring, so I hope this one is worth the to-do surrounding it.

So like... I totally said I was breaking up with this author for good because all the books I've read by her in the last 2 years have been terrible, but... Does it count when it's a series you read already and it's a new addition? I just don't know. I did tell someone to slap me if I thought about reading another one of her books. I guess...get ready to do that.

I'm only at 6% and this book is giving me the major icks...straight guy treating the trans character like a carnival sideshow. Super not cool. Feeling a nope out coming on.

I'm really struggling with boredom. This book had so much promise, but now it's just the same repetitive conversation between one of the MCs and a random side character in every single chapter. I. Am. Bored. Please move the plot forward OMG.

I forgot how much I loved this book after the first time I read it. It's so good.

I'm trying to read the final book in the series again. I've read the first book three times and the other two two times in an attempt to finally finish the series, and it's just not good writing to me. I just don't know why so many people love it. Maybe it's time to just give up on this series.

OMG the glossary at the end of each chapter is cracking me up. Do we really need these super common words defined for us? I mean seriously everyone knows what bloke and holiday mean. It's ridiculous.

I'm going to try making it through this series again. I tried last year and I just didn't like it. People love it so much, though, it makes me so curious. I didn't read the 4th book last time so maybe that'll make me a Green Creek convert.

An author who actually does research! Hurray!!

I'm almost finished with the E.M. Lindsay story right now but these stories are...not good. The one I'm reading right now is full of formatting and continuity errors. I get that it's for charity but yikes, man. I think I'll just donate money next year and not bother with the anthology at all.

This book is surprisingly boring. It's Jon+Donovan±the annoyingly slow storytelling style of those dragon books I refuse to read because the first one was so terrible. I wish I hadn't bought this book now.

What is up with the plot device that all authors seem to love where the GPS becomes "possessed" and gives nonsensical directions? I've read it in at least a dozen books now. It wasn't funny the first time and it isn't funny this time or any of the other times. Please, authors, stop putting this ridiculous gimmick in your books. 🤦

This author needs an American proofreader. Why set stories in the United States with American characters and have them speak like Australians? Lolly water, mum, hiring a car, on and on and on. It's just one of my biggest pet peeves! Write what you know, and if you don't know, research it or ask for help. 🤦

This book is cringe-y as hell with some really bad dialogue. Note to self: just stop taking ARCs! Hopefully it will improve soon.

I'm having a tough time with this one and I kind of feel like DNFing. I'm just kind of bored and Magnus is not a compelling character.

I feel like this author does not have children. I'm only 2% in and already rolling my eyes. There is no 3-year-old on the planet who will stay in a playpen. 3-year-olds never stop moving and they never stop talking. They are also too heavy for playpens, especially ones that are held together with duct tape. I really know how to pick these ARCs lately 🤦
