Now getting testimonies of passengers that were lowered into boats from the starboard side. It seems that this side didn't get the order of "women and children first" until later. I wonder how Gloria Steinham would have felt about this?

I think it's interesting how the 1997 movie used little pieces of information from testimonies to create drama. For instance, when the woman jumps from the ship into the lifeboat, but misses--that really happened. However, she was caught.

This book is great so far. Part I is the account of Lawrence Beasley who was one of the survivors who was lowered in one of the boats. Some of the crew and men with boating experience were allowed in the boats to manage for the women. Mr. Beasley says that the loading of the boats was very orderly and the crewmen were very professional on this perfectly starry night.
