I'm digging this. It's a little hard-boiled detective, a little international intrigue, a lot of Hindu mythology pulled into the modern world, and a touch of Lovecraftian "meddling with things beyond human understanding" atmosphere.

Cthulhu mythos meets Dresden Files with a little bit of American Gods. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Been struggling with this one due to a bit of overabundance of detail in the prose, but it looks like stage-setting is done and the story has hit its stride at last. Everything I'm reading in comments indicates that the time spent establishing the characters is going to be well worth it.

Worst reason to ever (nearly) DNF a book - I believe it's gotten lost in a move. And it was the copy I bought at NecronomiCON Providence too! Luckily I found an eBook copy and so I can finally get back to this one!

Just started this one and already enjoying it a lot more than Millennium. I love Stephenson's writing style - it's challenging without being excruciating thanks to the flow and nuance, and I've already been caught off-guard by some truly hilarious lines.

Jumping on the bandwagon to see what all the excitement's about.

Pacing is quick and a welcome change after TGWPWF. Definitely getting a hint of darkness/grimness so far. Hope Collins doesn't gloss over it because she's targeting a YA audience. Need weight, need gravity, need substance. Hard to stay interested if work is too lighthearted. Has to be serious.

Things are getting interesting now that the investigation is underway. Happy to read about NFSB's present condition though. :)
