Started this over five years ago on audio but got bored and kept getting distracted. Making an attempt to pick up from where I left off, this time using a combination of an ebook and a physical copy, but it really isn't keeping my attention. I want to finish it because it's an obvious classic that has stood the test of time but I just find it slow and boring.

I'm a big Scalzi fan and intend to read everything he produces. So far, this is OK but not up there with his other works. I think he's overdone it on the comedy elements to the point where it's not realistic and, frankly, a bit annoying. Everyone seems to constantly make jokes or make quips or, the the case of the main character, trot out the same catchphrase over and over again. Heading for a 2 at this point.
