An interesting topic, but the audiobook is hampered by the reading of literally everything, including notes, captions, descriptions of photographs, and web addresses.

There is also so much supposition and self-insert on the part of the author, it's hard to understand why she chose to write this as non-fiction rather than a well-researched fiction with a note on her research at the end.

Blergh. I was hoping for a fun, classic Ware suspense, but I'm already annoyed by the opening "is it a dream" sequence, as well as with the main character needing to be convinced to take a free vacation/job opportunity, the terrible American accent used for the husband, and the whining voices used for the children. Not sure I'm going to make it far in this one.

I am not having a good time with this book. So many of the female characters are either terrible or stupid. The depictions of the Teek, the all-female society, especially come off as misogynistic, or at least anti-feminist. I would normally quit a novel that sends up this many red flags, but my love of Black Sun has bought the series a lot of leeway. Fingers crossed it turns a corner soon.

I was not prepared for how gory and visceral this book is.

This is fun, but long and too violent to be bingeable for me. Won't finish before it's due back at the library. Alas!

A very strong collection so far, and one I'm looking forward to coming back to when I'm able to check it out again.

Oooo, this is really good so far. On track to be one of my favorite reads of the year.
