Exceptionally long winded sentences. I still believe it is a good book. I just hope someone could rewrite the book using modern English. This book is after Wyckoff.

The fact that this book was written in 2006 and the conclusion it gave on lie detection (despite a heavy and popular movement on lie detection via body language/facial movement ) gives me extreme confidence in the author. Plan to read up more of his books after this

Although this book is written in 2006, I find it difficult to grasp at times. Many interesting bits but I couldn't link the ideas seamlessly at the first reading of the book

one interesting topic discussed is how to load value (which could be totally different had we known better) into this superintelligence

it also talks about if and how this superintelligence would achieve so called 'strategic advantage' and what motivations it could have (based on what the programmers have input)

This book is quite difficult to follow. Coincidentally Dan Brown's Origin has some similar flavour to it. You can read the latter first perhaps (Origin is a fiction with all real facts in it)

If you read some comments by other users below, you'll get a fairly clear idea of what the book is about - it is an interesting read but I just chose to read a few chapters like chapter 12 : learning to race with machines, chapter 14: long term recommendations and chapter 15: technology and the future

Joseph is starting The Brain that Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science
this book is a wonderful book that talks about neuroplasticity (literally how our brain can adapt and change accordingly). the science behind it is made easy to understand.

unfortunately, not many takeaways on how to do it although i m on Chapter 8 now and 3 more chapters to go. Hopefully the application part will be discussed later on

Money expanded empire via 'trust in the future'. Key word - growth (in the future).

some questioning done in the book are worth pondering - e.g. how our social order is nothing but an 'imagined order', i.e. rules made up entirely in our mind with absolutely no rooting in the natural law.

This book is a good read. On how exorcism is actually performed. I like the 5 prayers of deliverance in the end.

Joseph is reading The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon
this book talks about how amazon comes about. despite the negative remarks on why amazon is a sweatshop etc, I think the deeper interpretation of the story is the struggle amazon goes through to become the everything store. and it's amazing how one man could achieve so much. inspiring. must read for those interested to understand e commerce.
