In the Algorithm We Trust, 2.5 stars. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: HUMANS DO NOT NEED CONSTANT STIMULATION!!

Bye, Bye Sadness, 2.5 stars. To experience real happiness, we need to experience real sadness. Have we learned NOTHING from Brave New World?!

We See You, 3 stars. Scary, how quickly we become so desensitized to acts of violence against women, so much so that instead of preventing it, we film it.

Love, the Way God Intended, 4 stars. Why guns and pocketknives are more normalized in schools but than books depicting queer and trans people is beyond me.

The Termination Bureau, 4 stars. Absolutely horrific, how the productivity and exploitability of unborn bodies for the state are seen as more valuable than actually living people, who are treated as nothing more than carriers of men's property. This one made me nauseous.

The Crumbling of a Nation, 2 stars. Once the environment is gone and capitalism has won out, every recreation of our prior reality will fall short.

It Was Just Another Day in America, 3.5 stars. Scarily realistic (both the normalization of gun violence in schools and our country's way of addressing it by integrating police, military bunkers, and guns into every aspect of our lives).

Tommy Longhorn, 3 stars. Loved the set-up for a space-exploring alien trying to find the good on Earth, but a mass shooting for the ending?! And a really poorly-written ending, too? Really?

tara, you either need to be my therapist or my new best friend. you ate this up!! "the ability to 'understand' something toxic doesn't mean it's a good idea to stick around." "leaving doesn't always have to mean 'fleeing,' and staying isn't always worth the energy it takes to make a place feel safe."

"It is that, I believe, resumed the other, that the king chiefly resents: his majesty is too just to condemn a man for maintaining the principles he was bred in, however they may disagree with his own; but to become his enemy, to enlist himself in the service of those who aim at the destruction of his lawful prince, is certainly a treason of the blackest dye."

Upon the whole, therefore, I cannot think Patkul in the wrong for attempting to maintain the liberty of his country, tho' I do for entering into the service of the avowed enemy of his master."

"True, replied Horatio, I am confident that such a prince as ours knows how to chuse for his people much better than they do for themselves; but how can they be certain that his descendants will have the same virtues; and when once an absolute power is granted to a good prince, it will be in vain that the people will endeavour to wrest it from the hands of a bad one."
