I am forever grateful for this story and all of the ways it has changed my life for the better. Heartstopper has taught me so much about communicating with others, setting boundaries, valuing my mental health, exploring my identity, taking risks, and giving myself grace as I continue to heal and grow. Most importantly, it introduced me to what love really is, and now I see the love in everything. Thank you, Alice <3

Wow. Just, wow.

Opening this book with Kamala's coconut tree quote is truly iconic behavior, I love it.

Beautifully-crafted, and so thoughtful. I particularly loved the nuance concerning the supposed "responsibility" to come out, the queer scene in Iran as opposed to that of the United States, shame and guilt in regards to identity and family, critiques of social media and documentation intended for consumption, and also love, in all of its forms.

Len's favorite book is The Catcher in the Rye. Enough said. (Actually, it is much worse than that: he's emotional, whiny, passive aggressive, incapable of apologizing or communicating in any emotionally mature way, and a Percy Shelley fan. Fuck off.)

Loved the premise (i.e. queer sexual pleasure erasing the darkness and adding color to the world, making you more human, climate change deniers exhibiting cultish behaviors, white supremacy and patriarchy taking shape within vampirism). Unfortunately, this one was ruined by graphic, violent, borderline-nonconsensual sex. Power imbalances and physical abuse are never anything I can get behind. Sorry, not sorry :/

If Resident Alien were slightly less interesting and in a book format

Insufferable main character, omg. This entire novel is just stream of consciousness, inner dialogue that goes nowhere.

The autistic, lesbian, and transgender representation in this was so refreshing!

Jacob Riis is lowkey a terrible person... also, this book was so incredibly boring, I'm surprised I finished it

I'm so invested in this love story between two people I have never met and their three little girls who are the Princesses of Space.

Biggest takeaway: abolish prisons!

My girl Annie made it out, let's go!! I'm very proud of this AI badass.

The concept of having children with your lover just to harvest their organs and consume them for your own sexual pleasure is truly sickening (and it was also the only redeeming part of this entire story)

All of the side characters blended together, and the romance itself was underwhelming (also, that ending was cheeeeezzzyyyy)

I feel like most of the ideas presented in this book were things I was already aware of by the age of 10, but bell hooks actually put them into words, so props to her, I guess

Forever grateful that I escaped Catholic guilt and confronted my internalized ableism. Also, I really loved this line that Cesar's therapist said to him: "When you live only to avoid the grief of people you love, you end up shouldering all that grief on your own, mourning yourself while you're still here."

This genuinely disturbed me, and while I would love to unzip my skin suit and never think about this book again, that is simply not possible. If you need an excuse to end it all, I'd highly recommend giving this a read.
