Plugging along though not the writer’s fault. I have learned from it and contemplate the ideas often in relation to the present global and more local contexts. It also blends with some Substack columnists I read. Of course blame my busy life and other fiction reading at the same time, not to mention streaming offers.

Waiting to be able to read with grandkids

Just started Book II: a gift from my mother in the mid 90s and waiting ever since. Good writing, but what nitty characters! I prefer the German academics in Bolano, but the book is at least smaller for in-bed reading, and one does get involved in the shenanigans.

A short book I've owned for a while with others in the series, but I've got more interested in this composer and his music, especially two movements of the Sonata in A major which keep coming back in my head...so will try to learn, when other projects calm down and the piano tuned!

This definitely gives one perspective and many surprises. I have suspended disbelief for now as to the lack of backup, but how can one have 3 footnotes per sentence?
I did see a recent article that refers to the research behind one broad group of points in this bood, and it backs up his discussion there, so I shall gather that the same is true elsewhere.

Moving along fairly steadily and enjoying the details. Great intro by Follett.

I finished the first of these after deciding to go back to the beginning of the cycle. I am less a fan of fantasy sci fi than I once was, but it is going well anyway when I get a moment between keeping up with other stuff these days.

I am NOT reading this for the second time. I started it in June and ended early July, but the program is not allowing me to change anything of that. It also goes back to currently reading, etc. Completely batty situation. I'm done, enjoyed it, have rated it 4 stars a couple of times here!

Started just after finishing Ng's Little Fires Everywhere, so it's complementary in a way: still with a teen protagonist but a single point of view that is done well. Farther north than Shaker Heights, but that doesn't matter really, with nuttier characters, maybe. A few adults share some traits between the books, too. I find it more intriguing so far, but then I'm already more than 50% through it.
