I’m going to finish where I left off last summer just so I can meet my reading goals— at this point I was going to give it three stars, for weak, ordinary writing, and unnecessary head-hopping, and little character growth.but then our main characters applied to only 1 prestigious college each AND GOT IN! 😒🙄

Now it’s down to 2. I’ll finish, but this is not one I’ll remember fondly.

I think once they lost Bill, they lost the plot too. I've already suffered through the lectures on sentient beings and open marriage, so the last third is making me nervous. Did not finish, and I so thought in the first three chapters this would be like The Thin Man in Outer Space. Disappointed.

I REALLY need to talk to someone about this book. Eva is haunting me!

Listening to the audio version of The Goldfinch and I'm thunderstruck at how good it is and how much I am enjoying it. The voice actor is BRILLIANT! I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as much if I had read it. I'm going to back to discarded bestsellers and try them again with audio and see if I enjoy it more.

If you are a Christian and you are a thinker (shame on you if you are a lazy Christian!) you should read this book! I'm so glad I did! I'm especially glad my copy was a gift -- so it will be a treasure for my family. Saving Leonardo reminds me of how important it is to be grounded in Biblical worldview so I can make a difference in a broken world especially with my art.

So if you move from Manhattan to the English countryside, you made all the characters animals instead of Yuppie single men, you made Toad's quest for a fast car the same as Barney's quest for a new bedmate, couldn't The Wind In The Willows be a lot like How I Met Your Mother? I'm only halfway-ish in, so if this is too much of a stretch, I probably need a ride in Rat's boat (a NYC cab!) to clear my head.
