The end is in sight!

For a moment, it seemed like a plot might have showed up, but don't worry. It has been squashed so the pretty people can get back to incessantly sighing over each other.

It's a good thing there are so many descriptions in this book. Otherwise, Reid might have had to come up with an actual plot.

Is there any real plot in this book, or is Reid just going to spend the whole thing repeatedly describing Agnes in great detail and swooning over Liuprand's cobalt blue eyes?

Reid really thought she was cooking with gas with this. Except the gas is helium, and also the stove isn't on.

Earlier in the book, we learn that a side character is fat because of an unhealed injury that prevents them from walking. Now, Reid writes that said character is fat because they're lazy. So we've gotten a heaping portion of fatphobia with a side dish of ableism. Thanks, I hate it.

The name 'Marozia' appears 581 times in a 560 page book. That is too many times.

Greaaat. An extended and incredibly repugnant description of a fat person. I'm begging Reid to be normal about people's bodies.
