Familiar, enjoyable and believable, but is borderline caricature in parts. The story-per-chapter thing is a blessing and curse: some stories would have benefited from being fleshed out into their own novels; however, the collection of short stories aspect keeps things interesting (and adds to a broader shared meaning).

Vulnerable, nice flow, interesting, enjoyable, but timeline is a bit jumpy/confusing.

I relate to Frank as an oldest child; the jealousy, having to share special things, being “odd” to your siblings’ shine,always getting in trouble because “you should know better, you’re older!”... he depicts Oldest Child problems like no other. Love how McCourt manages light and dark in such a tragic environment. It’s absolutely hilarious in parts, more so than most self-proclaimed comedic books.
