Reading this and listening to the podcast series on The Literary Life Podcast has been so enjoyable! They have shared that Dracula is not to be read as modern monster stories where the monster represents suppressed desires or the “other” (other cultures or people that the reader may misunderstand or fear), but more like the monsters of fairytales that represent the oldest monster and the oldest enemy.
