Sexist. Name dropping. Boring.

Slow

It’s very, very dense. Strangely compelling.
I feel like I’m wandering around London with pretty strange individual and wondering how I can escape his company and do something that I want to do in the environment he’s in, which is rather wonderfully evoked.

Reading it for the second time.
Bored.
I like the idea, but I felt even the author ran out of puff.

Before it had to back to the library. I am looking forward to finishing it.

Paused, as I had to return it to the library. I hope to have it back soon, as I was engrossed by it.

I had read this book many years ago, but this time I really appreciated it. It stands well and truly on its own merits but in light of the background reading I have been doing lately about Orwell and his life, it really shone.

This book is taking me in so many different directions!

Popping in, uncharacteristically, to say how much I am enjoying this book. It’s the first time in a long while since I’ve read this genre.

Still going as I’d forgotten I needed to read another book for book group.

Disjointed and dull. I really don’t know why I persevere with this author.

I am curious to read this, having heard the author talk about it at the Melbourne Writers Festival.

I can’t believe how slowly I am reading this book. It is not engaging me at all so far and I usually love this author!

I am finding this a real plodder. I usually like Nick Hornby. Or used to.

I am finding it very slow going

I am finding this book quite incoherent. I applaud that it’s written by someone with anxiety — as do I — because I think it’s important we write and read about this topic.

I may have to leave it for the moment. At the moment it’s serving to trigger some of my own issues.

Re-reading for book group. Still as fascinating as the first time I read it.

Abandoned for the moment. It’s ponderously slow and I don’t find the male narrator believable as a young woman.

This book is making me extremely uncomfortable and angry. I am reading in the wake of My Dark Vanessa, a new release by Elisabeth Russell. which reference Nabkov a lot.
