Can’t do it I’m afraid. So many other things I want to read. My second pass at this and I’m going to put it down... I hate doing that!!!

This is my second attempt at this book. Still not quite seeing what all the fuss is about but I shall persevere!

Phhheewweeww this book is a marathon of awful abuse and manipulation. Struggling a bit. But I will persist to find out how she freed herself...!

Confronting and completely brilliant.

A slow burn... beautifully written. I have a feeling it will be entirely worth persisting with.

This book is gripping. So confronting in many ways, but so gently and carefully written. It reads like the autobiography of a young man growing up under the weight of internalised racism, and sets out the many lessons he has learned. Well researched, deeply personal and generous in the space it gives to the reader to confront their own racist ideas.
