Maya and Beau have 2 different worlds and it can be hard to understand the other side. A example of that is when beau gave Maya a book about cochlear implants for her birthday, and Maya got very upset,"What part of I dont want a cochlear implant did you not understand" (Gervais 273). I think he did understand but saw it from a different perspective. Im that way with my siblings because there is an age gap between us.

I felt this book was going to have a good plot and character development.This book is goes above and beyond with the scenery & details the use.Beau & Maya went on their date,they went to main street which was,"right out of a hallmark Chistmas card.There were lights, garlands, & wreaths, as well as a roaring bonfire" (Gervais 205).The details add emotions into the writing which makes it interesting to read.

Maya's brother lung collapsed and their wasn't an interpreter at the hospital.Beau came and signed for her. At the hospital Beau and Maya had a connection and you could tell they liked each other and enjoyed each others company.Beau even asked, "OK IF I STAY, WAIT FOR YOUR MOTHER WITH YOU" (Gervais 175). I think that after the whole hospital scene and connection that they will start dating no matter hearing or deaf.

Maya went to Beau's house to work on a project. She was nervous because she is starting to like Beau. Beau and Maya have this different level of trust, " I signed, DON'T UNDERSTAND, with a shake of my head, and Beau took a minute to think something through, whatever it was, before e signed, YOU T-R-U-S-T ME" (Gervais 131)? I think they will become great friends and even maybe start dating because of their trust.

Maya didn't hear her science partner say to watch the pressure gage. It didn't end well. Maya didn't understand why he spoke to her like she was going to hear, " I think my lab partner, Eli Collins, forgot I'm Deaf" (Gervais 121). This made Maya very frustrated and angry that she wasn't told something and just expected to understand and hear someone. Now she doesn't know if she is good enough to work in a hospital.

Beau is a smart student and does a lot within the school but he actually doesn't like school, but his dad wants him to go to Yale and be super smart, "Beau's dad was more intense about the whole college thing than most parents and it aggravated him" (Gervais 109). This conflict draws me in and makes the book interesting. You feel like you are there feeling the emotions with the character. You can sympathize with him.

Maya the deaf character in the story is annoyed and frustrated with a hearing boy named Beau. He keeps wanting to help Maya out and want to learn ASL. Maya doesn't like to feel babied and hates when people help her and also doesn't know if she wants Beau learning ASL. I agree with Maya and what she feels. I understand why she might have hesitations signing with a hearing person. I think Maya will start liking Beau!!

Tedi is a little girl and her father isn't a great man. She says he's drunk most of the time and can be really aggressive. In the chapter I just read he didn't come home to her. She was home all alone and didn't tell her grandma like she was supposed to. I think that his mom i going to find out and hes going to loose his daughter. I notice that their is always conflict in every situation in the book. Never a break.

One of he Main Characters is Dr. Bower. Most of the other doctors don't trust him and find him suspicious but what I'm finding out is that he's not as bad as what people think he is. So I disagree with the other doctors about the words and suspicious acts they think he's done. One of them being that he isn't qualified to be a doctor. I think that the doctors are going to find out that Dr. Bower is actually good.

I liked this book that I chose because it has a interesting plot to it. There are small stories that are in one big story. Each character has his or her own issue and I'm still figuring out how they all the together. The amount of detail the author puts in the story is great. Many times while reading you feel as if you were there with the characters. I highly recommend this book.

As I've read this book I've noticed that there isn't one main character. There is many plots all at once. One of the doctors in the emergency room isn't acting like a normal doctor would and the other employees are suspicious about how he was able to work here. I think that they will find out that maybe he isn't all that bad and his record is just a set up. I'm also curious how the plots tie together.
