One moment I could kiss a man on deck without anyone minding, the next everyone was talking about being careful and the tribunals. It had always very ship to ship, captain to captain, but it was like the temperature had gone up so slowly, no one noticed until we all had to get out or be boiled alive. How did everyone suddenly know to just start behaving themselves again after the war ended?

Cop Andy is hired after getting fired for being found on his knees in a club men’s room in 1952. Pearl loved Irene, but Irene is dead. Murder? Irene’s son Henry loves Cliff. Henry publicly married to Margo. Margo loves club Ruby owner Elise. Butler Pat is gay. Chef Dot loves the gardner Judy. Everyone’s queer except Margo’s mother Alice. All live in the Lavender soap mansion owned by Irene/Pearl. Who did it?

Good audiobook version!

Tim was the voice of Nigel in the animated ‘The Wild Thornberrys’. Curry performed an incredible number of voices. Nice appendix in this book lists his: stage, film, tv, voices and even video games. I’m delaying reading these final pages as I’m sorry to see this book (and his life) come to an end. Such a personable person!

Ch 14 and 16 both got nicely spicy.

Addicted! I like the comfortable already-out positive energy of these characters.

The hardest thing about acting is finding out who you are in the first place - then filtering your character through your nature and experiences. Audsiences can smell when you're not authentic. The stench is overwhelming, and threatens to ruin an entire production.

Tim is so personable here, discussing roles and people. He has a good, non-intimidating heart. “The thing is, I don’t truly believe in irredeemably dark people.” His voice is quintessentially himself talking to me in this book. Makes me wish I could have taken him out to dinner after one of his theater performances.

Then there was West Side Story. I was about 15 when I first saw on stage, and it made me want to be a musical actor.

Advice to people about playing Frank: None of the characters in the show are in drag, not even Frank, and their outfits shouldn’t be viewed with such a constrictive lens. We’re all wearing what people normally wear in Transylvania. Get the f*** over it. Don’t perform like you’re dressed in something inappropriate or transgressive: you’re wearing the national attire.

Vagabonds rove. We travel about and pick up work wherever we go. We wander, drift, stagger, wink. Reluctant to be pinned down, we are enticed by risk, restless, if we linger, fueled by curiosity, and a sense of wonder.

“Look How Good I Look”: I didn’t want to go to that party, that I wanted to stay home, because Andrew had just decided to stop kissing me, that I wanted to read Giovanni’s Room for the fourth time and cry until I woke up to start crying again because goddamn why didn’t Andrew want to kiss me anymore

While fun historical-fiction liberties taken with the dialogues, I am enjoying looking up all the references to people and paintings. Nerd-me has an excel sheet with 129 entries already. Should I add the page-count of wiki's etc. I've been additionally reading?
