I'm in love with this book, and don't want it to end, but so anxious to know how it all resolves. So far my favorite book of the year.

#5, seems like Will might be slipping of the procreation bit.

I'm a sucker for most Iliad related off-shoots. This one focuses on the love affair between Achilles and Patroclus. Best character so far is Thetis - A's mamere.

Actually the on-line and kindle editions. Shooting for 3-4 a week. Ignored in my misspent youth. Just two thus far, but already tired of this "got get a kid" kick.

The civil war is in full swing; the peasants are being drafted; Trotsky is acting like a czar and Stalin is rising...

the walls are about to come tumbling down, and it's pretty clear that if a country ever needed a revolution, it was Russia. Stay tuned - betrayals to follow...

Slow going. Lots of detail, maybe too much. Skipped a whole chapter last night. Hochschild is usually more compelling.

Love dog books, and this one is laugh out loud funny.

Dad's magical powers are so far unexplained/unmotivated, but the story is moving along, the characters are well drawn, and I'm waiting for more to be revealed.

I love books that help me connect the dots. This seems to be one of those - civil war era "thinkers" that defined a particular strain of American political philosophy.

Slogging through. I really think this is too simple a story to merit 722 pages and two other volumes. I'm going to finish because I'm so far along.

Actually started last week. Has gone from interesting to dragging.

the problem with reading 3 or 4 books at a time is that they tend to take longer to finish. not a problem if you own the book, but this one was from the library; they want it back, and it's a non-renewable. oh well. replaced with "how to write a sentence," also from the library, but shorter.

Reminds me of growing up.
