Though I'm reading this book at the speed of snail, I'm having a great time with it. I get to learn French, analyze interesting poems, and consume beautiful literature.

I feel a very certain way when Kuang writes of the appeal of magic to Alice. The French s'interpeller captures this feeling best, as I am moved and awestruck as a chord is struck within my heart. This alongside a desire to dance, an impossible intellectual dance whose music is the melody of learning and discovery.
