“Man and His Dog” is one of the worst stories I’ve ever read in my entire life.

A meditation on the way in which a dedication to literature and writing catalyze profound loneliness, “Tonio Kröger” is philosophical and disheartening.

The title story is profoundly problematic with instances of sheer beauty. Mann’s ability to capture the tensions between the Nietzschian Apollonian and Dionysian through setting is masterful. Looking forward to the next set.

I don’t like Mrs. Hale. Like her literary counterpart Mrs. Bennet, she makes me roll my eyes hella hard.

Hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt at times. A fun read so far.
