“I simply did what I had to do, because I had no idea what to do with myself otherwise” (pg. 65). Poor Sinclair is drowning, his only refuge is the bottle and it’s destroying his mental health. This is what happens when you send an extremely depressed young man with severe identity issues away to boarding school as a hope that it will “fix” him. I expect nothing less from pre-war Germany.

Sinclair is clearly infatuated with Demian in a way I think is more so focused on Demian’s ways of thinking and radical ideas, rather than Demian himself. He has never met someone who recognizes and acknowledges that Sinclair’s growing disenchantment with the Catholic Church, as well as his newfound interest in sexuality, is valid and okay to openly talk about and critique.

Page 41: “Many people experience the dying and rebirth-which is our fate-only this once during their entire life. Sinclair sounds like the type of kid who I would have told stories about to my parents around the dinner table after school, and they would warn me there was something wrong with him. He does not think like a 10-year-old boy, and I don't know whether that is intentional or he's just mentally on a different level than the rest of his peers. He's like a sad neurotic young Sheldon Cooper.

I like how protective San Lang is of Xie Lian, it’s cute.

Sang Lang isn’t even trying to hide how unbelievably sus he is anymore. But I like how protective he is of Xie Lian and how unbelievably bothered he seems to be by the fact that he truly cares for Xie Lian.

I find it incredibly hilarious that every time Xie Lian tries talking to anyone through the communication array, he’s met with instant silence. Awkward as hell, I feel so bad for him😭Also Nan Feng and Fu Yao are so cute, clearly caring for Xie Lian without trying to show it. San Lang is so definitely Hua Cheng and if he isn’t I’ll be really surprised.

The whole recess scene was a total disaster. Poor Venus, who obviously has special needs and NEEDS MORE SUPPORT THAN THIS SCHOOL CAN PROVIDE, is being tossed around like a doll. I feel like the teachers aren’t taking this seriously at all. So happy I wasn’t a part of these times.

Did not like the hand slamming technique. Made my stomach drop. Ouch.

If anything bad happens to Lucy I will cry.
