writing style more similar to yellowface than babel rn. i’ve heard mixed reviews. but it’s a quick read so far

i love when an author REALLY understands human beings like REALLY gets them. this is delectable

i will FOREVER contend that i serve an unbearable lightness of being every time i experience anxious avoidance

there’s something about this story that pisses me off (the y/a-ness of the writing). the characters are kind of flat and there’s too much tell don’t show. BUT. i am HOOKED. i’m so gripped. i haven’t been able to put it down. like absolutely consumed. so… unsure where that leads me.

not everything is a reward or punishment, “all rain is not for the sake of watering the crops of the righteous, nor is every drought for the sake of punishing the wicked. it rains after all in the wilderness. creation is not only for the sake of human beings.”

definitely something i would’ve eaten up in high school. less so now. but an easy read. i like it more because it’s centered around a twin sister relationship over everything else. i think i would’ve given up by now if there was even the slightest hint of romance.

what a book what a genius

i went from having spent the last two months trudging through the first 50 pages to finishing over a 150 today. will be waking up and getting to finishing this asap. it’s gorgeous and devastating at the same time.

idk why this has trapped me in a reading slump but TODAY i will do nothing but finish this book just wait and watch

he’s got such an easy writing style. like i can consume 40+ pages in the span of fifteen to twenty mins and it’s weird bc it’s technically denser content? anyway i like it

conflicted about how i feel so far. but it’s an easy read, with well rounded characters. i like the premise (?). it’s getting me out of a slump which is good; i feel quite addicted to the storyline

dare i say one of my favorite books (for no particular reason). i cannot wait to finish and text the author bc i want them to be famous i’m obsessed w their grasp on people and interpersonal relationships and politics and gender identity they just seem SMART and awesome and idk i’m quite obsessed

i am enjoying this book tremendously. dare i say it: one of the most interesting and well written protagonists i’ve read in a while.

i’m only now realizing i’ve never read a book with a trans protagonist, and this is done so well. the characters are all likeable so far, even in their immaturities, which is often a hard balance to strike
