devouring, love this genre of storytelling, quick read, good characters

delectable prose. my first steinbeck kind of nervous.

this book is going to make me cry i can tell but i love it so much

this is a can’t-put-down kind of book. i am obsessed with it already, really good writing style

hm. this is interesting conceptually. but kind of forgettable? it's in pdf form on my phone to be fair, and i keep forgetting that i am reading it, but i have in fact read books on my phone before and not just forgotten about it. but i'm gonna try to power through bc i have a laundry list of a TBR. AAA

lots of actual references to victims; this book does a good job rooting itself in the realities of violence rather than turning stories to statistics. the author’s rage is palpable. he goes into his studies on caricatured mid-1900s spawned anti-semitism, and comments: “i have zero interest in apologizing for centuries old tropes created by europeans.”

my eyes need to readjust every time i see orient and occident it’s starting to blend into one (ironic!)

the kind of book i can’t stop reading when i am reading it but forget about when im not. it’s gorgeous and interesting but not… “sticky”? idk if that makes sense

my brain is in such a reading slump but this is a very good book

a review said this was like if tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow met normal people and that was all i needed to hear

ok nvm i’m now sucked in. still like not invested in the actual story/plot of it all but the characters are quite compelling and she is a PHENOMENAL writer like so good

i feel like it’s taken too long to give us the “reveal” to the point where i’m either going to a) spoil it for myself or b) lose interest

ok so took a fat break from this bc for whatever reason it was flying over my head the first time (slump!) but i’m REALLY loving it this time around. so topical? so crisp? great read
