ok so took a fat break from this bc for whatever reason it was flying over my head the first time (slump!) but i’m REALLY loving it this time around. so topical? so crisp? great read

i generally love a good vibes/plotless book, but this may be a little *too* vibes-based for me; simultaneously, really fantastic idea, i am a HUGE sucker for the "what is earth without humanity and humanity without earth" concept (iykyk) so will see how i feel when this ends

for example: in greek mythology, the river lethe is the underworld stream of oblivion where souls drink to forget their past lives before reincarnation. it signifies that identity is merely accumulated memory; once washed away by lethe, the person becomes a blank slate. a core theme is that to move forward, one must erase their past. so the soul is nothing but memory!
