They -and I …ugh . This is why the book should’ve been longer but character development also shouldn’t take up 300+ pages of your novel unless it is a character driven book, which this is not.

This book is sooo good right now . I’m mad it’s short but maybe it’s for artistic purposes where you can’t add more ´cause it won’t benefit the story

KKK members portrayed as actual monsters ( like need to be killed with silver, their arms fall off and they just continue being disruptive, they have 6 eyes) . The beginning of this read I wasn’t interested …..I’m glad I stuck out the full 30 minutes to read this story

There’s a lot of sadness going on in this area of the book. We are first introduced to Kossula as him being lonely and begging for company now we see how he has gotten to this lonely place everyone he loves does not make it for circumstances that just keep happening and time after time again.

It’s not that I forget the tragedies my ancestors have been through before me, but it is the retelling of history through the victors voices . Black people were slaves the end. We can’t even get that far now because of the erasure of CRT materials , when in reality it’s not a theory it’s history . Miss Zora Neale Hurston does an amazing job at not coding Mr.Lewis’ language to be a “ formal” way of speaking english. His voice is purely his own as he breaks down the class of “Africans” from where he’s from in chapter one and two.

In this part of the book where I left off it’s (certain) covid time and health and new projects after snl are on the table . Fortunately for leslie her hemorrhoid surgery and the covid were right on time for her recovery

The MF* LESLIE JONES, I’m laughing , CRYING, relating and MOST OF ALL INSPIRED . Ms.Jones has lived a lot of life in such a short time . Her being 55 at the time of this book releaseing and i’m still in her early formative years 6 chapters in just wow.

Chapter 2 , touches on the privatization of social programs . The start of privatization was supposed to make things more efficient , however in the big year 2025 it is getting way out of control, with the risk of privatizating education. Privatization has its place however corporate greed for contracts tend to come first before the social wellbeing of those effected

Learned that the Earned Income Tax takes some million + americans out of poverty every year . However the writing of the policy behind this Tax incentive is complicated and makes access to do one’s on taxes a scary thought , leaving impoverished americans to be exploited by tax preparers through their fees and such.

For me this is a lighthearted read different from the nonfiction, academic jargon salads. However this is not a slow burn type of book. The Priest is smitten(horny) immediately he barely tries to fight it. We rarely see him pray about it, ask for forgiveness. Just lots of cold showers. He also doesn't get much character development outside of his interactions with Poppy

Lots of examples of the behavior we see gets the people going. People are so self absorbed leaning into that make you magnetic , however something that I think this book will not get into (because Dale Carnegie passed away in 1955) there needs to be some boundaries. Boundaries should not waiver in order to get the appeal of some people.

I can definitely see why the finance bros be reading this. 😭Just finished the principles of dealing with people. I think this part of the book is just learning to get into whoever you want to influence perspective and do with that accordingly , when it comes to criticizing , or wants and desires.

Getting a little bit more into the nitty gritty, still in the fundamentals of dealing with people , one thing i’m noticing in non-fiction is that i’m generally not a fan of the excessive amount of real world examples, evidence is great however the amount is overstimulating. Overall, this has been a pretty -fair- read so far.

So far lots of anecdotal examples of the behavior of people.

At a pivotal point in time for Malcolm becomes less engaged with the white people around him after a visit to Boston where for the first time he is surrounded by those of his likeness. Malcolm still respectful, but now less inclined to be integrated into white society leaves those of Michigan to ponder over his change and eventually send him away. Quickly Malcolm moves to Boston and attributes it to a pivotal point.

You just need to get out of your own way, fear is holding you back, you self sabotage , you have to figure out what’s the deeper reason behind it all.

Started at work. There’s a lot of topical information that may be better to digest with less distractions. At the end of the day the advice given is very much just do it , which may be harder for others than some and may not apply .
