Last update. Only Methusaleh’s children left. I am going to miss the future history when I am done.

Was surprised by “If this goes on —“ basically a similar premise as the Handmaid’s tale. Apparently the fear that the USA could become a fanatically religious authoritarian regime is not new.

„The Roads must roll“ and „blowups happen“ proved quite visionary as well. Wrong in essential details, but right in others and inspiring.

Life-Line certainly is a strong start. Looking forward to the other 20 stories.

I thought this would be ridiculous. Instead I find it quite thought provoking.

Incredible story. Great read especially with the background from just having read The Guns of August.

This stuff is such a mind fuck. Today I learned more about war crimes than I cared to know. And it isn’t as if the contemporaries were necessarily equally horrified about it. Some were overjoyed.

I am more convinced than ever that nations are a bad invention. I now understand better what Hindenburg meant to the Germans and how America ended up militaristic.

Everyone who has ever been right about anything knows the feeling of being powerless to stop it from happening. The impetus of superior planning will not be overcome by any last minute doubts, new intelligence or naysayers.

It was interesting to learn that the only exception was Belgium, where one of the most insightful minds happened to become commander in chief at the onset of war by virtue of being the king.
