Ok Rocky is kind of cute.
But the lack of imagination from this author is truly distracting. Grace and Rocky learning to interact with each other is more appropriate for two people in different countries, both function under the alphabetic language system.

Sorry I just have to rant …… maybe he’ll counter this later in the book, in that case I will happily look like an idiot, but did he just say it’s nothing special that the ALIENS also read from left to right like English? Because there’re only four possible ways to read anyway?

I promised myself to read it before watching the film, I would have given it up about 3 minutes into the audiobook if it’s not for the movie, and I would have further give up at 10% if it’s not for Ryan Gosling. How can a SiFi book be so boring .. the redundant information is about half the book. I don’t need to know you cried thinking about your dead colleague AGAIN

This book is the ultimate escapism for me. I can feel in the old woman’s body, see through her eyes the dying of the old ages. People live, grow old, and die. At some point we all will become the remaining few eyewitness of the old world, but we also once all marked the birth of a new era.

I can’t believe how good this has been. I read it as part of the curriculum in primary school, I thought it was boring and didn’t remember a thing. I was definitely too little to understand this book. It’s so immersive, it’s happy and funny at times, it fills you with passion, with love, with sadness, and it strengthens you in many ways.

It’s a nice little thing so far to listen brainlessly but the author’s clearly trying to use her Asian history/ culture knowledge as a leverage to be lazy and assume no one would pick up on things. Also stop using real terms/names/places on the wrong things! It’s so annoying! Also also, I know it’s fiction but the characters names are so bad.. either be Asian or western, Don’t just mix and match!

Good good very good, the magic parings can be a little bit forced sometimes but the idea is fantastic! Always gets me imagining what words I would pair up to make the magic whenever I’m finding something hard to do haha

I’m loving it so far, also so far it feels a little bit like Harry Potter ?

I am loving it but why is it Soooo hard to read??? Have to look it up in dictionary about 3 times per sentences….. also the Chinese translated version is literally the worst thing and so unintelligible ever so I have to read it in English 😂. I will power through it though.
