Well, I wouldn’t call it riveting but I’m committed so

I am back to this series. I loved the first book. See how it goes.

I am not captured like I was with the first book in this series. Not sure how to decribe it, other than being too much and too fast. The flowering passages that I enjoyed in the first, now seem to be laying it on too thick. Too many obscure mental pictures.

I am excited to read this series, as I have found out very recently, thru ancestry research & conversation with relatives, that I am a descendant of Mary Howard.

I think I may put this down for now. Tbh I wasn’t really invested in the main character’s brother, Ned. It is turning into American history. I read for an escape, and typically stop when this happens. Leave me in another country for imagination sake please! LOL No offense to author, I liked the first one & just a personal preference.

I am savoring these pages and hoping there is a third in the series.

I just bought the second book.
