An absolutely gorgeous book. Tender, shocking, heartbreaking. Poetic in a refreshingly economic way. Each word chosen with care, delivering maximum impact. Not a word wasted. A talented author to watch.

Peter Frankopan never disappoints though I feel I’ve let him down by reading this in fits and starts, between books. The historical detail is astounding and would have had more sticking power in my brain if I would have persevered in a more committed fashion but I loved it regardless

I’m really gutted to have finished The Correspondent. Such a beautiful, touching read, it was an unexpected pleasure. This morning I am feeling the Sybil-sized hole in my heart. She was a real no nonesense character but one the reader grows to love as the book progresses. Gentle, bittersweet, one of the best book club options in recent memory.

Such a beautiful novel. Struggling through year-round labours on Norwegian island Barroy, we live, work and find our way with fisherman Hans, his wife Maria, sister Barbro, daughter Ingrid and father Martin. A life affirming read, I am so pleased to have found this gentle yarn from this talented author.

Ah, I've really missed these characters! So glad to have my hands on the final installment of this gripping trilogy.

This is my first Donna Tartt book. I don't know why I waited so long. She has a beautiful writing style - so gentle and personal yet engaging. I have no idea where this story is headed but thrilled I am along for the ride!

If ever there was a book begging to be 'read' in audio, this is it! What a terrific listen. Each narrator brings life to this tale about the zombie conflict.

I'm listening to Brilliance while painting. Lots of action to follow during this mundane task. Brilliants, or 'twists', are savants with enhanced abilities. This book focuses on the hunt for the most wanted Brilliant who is believed to be linked to domestic terrorist plots. I like it - cool hero, interesting plots, nice sarcasm. Fun!

This is a terrific read for those looking for a historical thriller fix. Similar to Dan Brown, I have enjoyed this book so far. I love the female heroine and find it a refreshing change to have a girl holding the reins.

This continues my current fascination with the 1920-30s. It features a love triangle playing out in the summer homes and beaches of Rhode Island.

A fun romp through 1920s New York with flappers, bathtub gin and supernatural murders. Oh my!

This is AMAZING! Completely unlike anything I have read in a while. I'm desperate to see how it unfolds but hate to see it come to an end.

My mind is on the war of the roses so decided to read something more closely anchored in fact. This is proving to be a thought provoking read as long as I can keep all the players straight! Edwards, Richards and Henrys a plenty!

This is a riot! I love the sarcasm and the perfect grasp of crazy American soccer moms with little to worry about. Classic stuff. I am now a lifelong fan of Maria Semple.

I wasn't too keen on Lost Symbol but couldn't resist reading the next Robert Langdon book. Angel and Demons and Da Vinci Code were terrific so here's hoping this follows form.

This is a terrific book. Being American I am not familiar with Kate Atkinson but I am glad to have found her now. She has a comforting writing style that really suites the tale she tells.

What a terrific book to listen to while weeding! It is fascinating to learn about the progression of human history through our drinks of choice.
