I didn't fully appreciate how terrible this textbook is until I picked up a second one on the subject, for fun.

I've finally figured out what my hang-up is with this one. Its an odd mixture of details and a lack of detail at the same time.

For example, the text says that over seventy monasteries in Germany were sacked during the reformation, in nearly that many words. Then, in the next paragraph, it rattles off four names of towns or monasteries without context. I have to keep Wikipedia open to follow the threads.

I am struggling 🥲.

And also, I hate it when the protagonist has the story happen to them coincidentally.

I am slightly disappointed that we have covered all of history to the Humanist movement and the start of the Renaissance in 58 pages
