Margaret is reading The Benefit of Hindsight (Simon Serrailler, #10)
Another great Simon Seraillier thriller.
Despite his ongoing problems after his accident, he manages to solve the crime eventually. His family continue to play an important role. A worthwhile
relaxing read.

I am finding this book very interesting, but very technical. It needs quite a lot of concentration

I am abandoning this book. The writing is so stilted/childish I can`t cope!!
It looked really promising."never judge a book by its cover" is perhaps worth adhering to.

First read this when I was 15ish and loved it. This time I am finding it rather slow and long, still loving it though.

Now on the last section/book. Much of this is told by the voice of mark Tietjen`s wife/woman. It is interesting because she clearly doesn`t understand the English. She is a French peasant and has delusions of greatness. The whole thing has turned out to be an exceptionally good read.

Have just finished part 2, which I believe was originally a separate book No More Parades. This section deals exclusively with life at the front and a visit from Tietjen`s impossible wife, (more or less ex.) I am now well into the language and am finding it much easier to read and often very amusing. It is a very in depth comment on social and political thinking of the time, a very strong indictment of the Great war

Have just finished part one, which I believe was originally the first book of four. It has been slow and sometimes a struggle to overcome the verbiage.
However FMF really does get into the minds of his characters and they are very believable.

I am struggling with this, whilst very interesting, it is now outdated and thinking has changed.
