DNF. Didn't feel anything but annoyance toward the MC. This might be better for more mature middle schoolers or young high schoolers as it's introspective, mentions killing, dogs die and a parent is recovering from a pain med addiction.

70% through & there's still no murder mystery yet. I literally forgot about the 1st chapter where someone discovered a dead body. It's that irrelevant to the baking/ingredient-description-heavy narrative that relies on bland competition drama. So, I'm going back through the synopsis and reviews bc maybe I missed something?? Nope, it's marketed as a locked room cozy murder mystery. Blehhh.
