Oooo what a way to set the scene!!! A murder on thanksgiving! An unidentified body. The killer is in the room?! I have high hopes!

Idk just sounds a bit mopey on her end. However I am very curious about the mystery behind Eliza and her rs to Nell. So I think I will persist and hopefully the pace will pick up once the scene is all set… might take a break and come back to it.

A little bit bored I’m not gonna lie! The pacing is quite slow and feels a little repetitive at the moment. Also I’m not sure if I’m a fan of Nell.. idk she gave her daughter shit for abandoning Cassandra but the way she speaks of not “connecting” with her child since she was BORN sounds ridiculous. Like how is that the child’s fault??

I’m certain not a single person in this book has any brain cells.

First of all why is Nora not standing up for herself more and letting everyone walk over her. And Marcus does he not know how sus it will look? And este… smth about her I don’t quite trust.

I’m not a fan of Eleanor, but it’s so sad the truth that she speaks to Harriet - that you may not like it but the rules are different for women. Back in those days, men could do whatever they want and face little consequence but not women. Not even those of the upper class/ society. So let alone those who are not in society. My heart breaks for them!

Really good start and I’m enjoying it a lot so far. I was worried the historic side of it would bore me but on the contrary I find it v interesting.

Being a woman in the past was really so hard, as a modern way woman, we must not forget how far our gender has come!

This is one of those books that I was quite reluctant to read because based on the synopsis I wasn’t sure if it was going to b my thing… but so far so good

Yes Beth finally. Rain on Gabriel’s self pity parade. Why did it take you so long to realise… sigh. Sad that it had to take a tragedy for Beth to realise how much Frank loves her.

You didn’t even know Bobby. You were happily going to marry Louisa. Which he did. And he only came back after Louisa LEFT HIM. Not the other way around. He is selfish to both Beth and Louisa. A man who can’t stand up to his own mother to protect the woman he supposedly loves.

But when bobby died her love for him stopped. She obviously blames him and hates him. And also Gabriel comes back all available now. What a mess lol. But still poor frank.

And Beth kisses him. Urgh. I know her marriage with Frank has manyyy issues but cheaters are cheaters. I’m annoyed. I like the book but I can’t stand them. Frank is not perfect either and it’s not that I’m rooting for them but I hate cheaters.

After all these years Gabriel decides the right time to tell Beth that he didn’t sleep with Louisa is at her BIL’s wedding. Honestly. Why didn’t you tell her earlier? You were upset about what she said about your mother being right?!?! What a baby!! She obviously said it in the heat of the moment. But also why didn’t you introduce her as your gf. It just stinky this boy.

So far the plot is is very intriguing and Sloan’s background in forensic work is different too

I’m lovinggg this book. So beautifully written and now the stories are starting to intertwine as the timelines start to match up with each other. I can only hope for a happy ending!!!

I had an inkling from the start Moira was Lisavet so glad to see I’m right!!! But I wouldn’t have guessed Amelia was her daughter

I’m sure Adele is not perfect and probably has secrets of her own. But I absolutely hate cheaters. So Louise and David are annoying me.

Took two days off reading this but now I’m back! Honestly still a little slow moving for me and I hope I won’t be disappointed with how it pans out.

Atm I’m thinking the new character Nat might be Tessa? Or related to her?

Also I hope Avery turns out good as I’m rooting for her

The jump from present times to when Walt was investigating in the past is a bit confusing for me sometimes. Like I get confused if it’s present day Walt reflecting or him reading about what he did in the past.?

Okay maybe I don’t like Victoria after all. I don’t like cheaters!!

I think I like abbey though so hopefully she’s not involved with her dad. Also I don’t have good vibes with the detective… I hope Vitoria gets the justice she deserves after all these years.
