I’m finding Annie to be very ungrateful and annoying tbh. Kit is not perfect but since he made the initial mistake he has been nothing but kind to her. She is really using her “poorness” as an inferiority complex. And only she can’t see it. Even the way she talks about pottle is infuriating. For someone who is supposedly brilliant, she actually comes across v unaware and stuck up lol.

Ok this book is not bad… but wtf it’s great at making my blood boil. Why are literally ALL the men in this book stupid and pathetic?

The misogyny in the book is appalling. I can’t wait for the revenge to start.

I don’t get Paige’s character… she starts off as this woman who is so sad to have lost her son. And then now she’s suddenly crazy over Cora’s husband? Why would she do that to Cora? The whole thing with Finn is odd too.

Rooting for Georgia’s escape but also curious to see how they tie it all tgt.

Really enjoying the book now, once I’ve gotten the hang of the style of storytelling.

Also isn’t perspectives funny. All the Afghan povs about how indecent and wild Zorah was but from the perspective of her American non-Afghan friends she was so conservative. Poor girl was just wanting to fit in and her parents were just walking that line of how much to help her but still keep their culture

Ah I don’t like xander and how he dealt with the pregnancy thing and aftermath but I also don’t fully blame him.

But also it sucks when the husband and bf don’t get along. But maybe it’s because it so obvious the bf is in love with his wife lol

I like the book. And I know these are broken characters.. but what is wrong with pj. Why can’t he get it tgt for the kids and SOPHIE.

I thought Sophie was rude to her father and yes she should cut him some slack. But should she though? Pj is a good guy but he doesn’t look like he was a good father to Sophie.

This book is actually quite dark. The humour and the things that Luna say sometimes makes me forget she is only 10 years old. Which is so sad because she has been forced to grow up due to the abuse and trauma she and Ollie has had to deal with. But especially her and her shit grandpa and the shitty way her mum responded.

Idk just sounds a bit mopey on her end. However I am very curious about the mystery behind Eliza and her rs to Nell. So I think I will persist and hopefully the pace will pick up once the scene is all set… might take a break and come back to it.

A little bit bored I’m not gonna lie! The pacing is quite slow and feels a little repetitive at the moment. Also I’m not sure if I’m a fan of Nell.. idk she gave her daughter shit for abandoning Cassandra but the way she speaks of not “connecting” with her child since she was BORN sounds ridiculous. Like how is that the child’s fault??

I’m not a fan of Eleanor, but it’s so sad the truth that she speaks to Harriet - that you may not like it but the rules are different for women. Back in those days, men could do whatever they want and face little consequence but not women. Not even those of the upper class/ society. So let alone those who are not in society. My heart breaks for them!
