Oof it’s picking up and it’s quite a ride

It ebbs and flows

… so far this story seems to revolve around an absolutely irresponsible doctor and a callous vapid woman “resting and relaxing” (pumping herself full of drugs to sedate herself into oblivion)

Sadly I don’t think this book is what I was expecting

*sigh* why did we resurrect JB again? Was that necessary as a plot device? It couldn’t be anyone else?

Dear god I am struggling to stay engaged in this book
Vi is so unlikable
This whole grassroots movement is slow as hell when they have literal massive powerful dragons on their hands who could kill the venin now before they get too powerful
JB did not need to come back … and is too close to JC for my liking (he better not)
Varrish is so one dimensional it hurts

Vi being unreasonable in her demands to know all the truth always is giving toxic energy

I am loving this book so far

So good - interesting to see the business side of dueling families

Super repetitive (“don’t wanna be like my mom” over and over again as well as actual lines like “crying, screaming, throwing up”) and beating me over the head with the “we’re so different this just won’t work but let’s do it for publicity it’s not like we’ll fall in love”… but hey it’s a beach read

God damn it I love this book already

This book is so good so far, and I haven’t read a memoir(ish) book in a while!

*⭐️⭐️ but only got through 5.5 of the short stories before abandoning … so yes technically I DNF but since it’s a book of short stories I’m counting it

Like any book of short stories some were good (like the Faery Handbag which honestly I would have read 500 pages on) and others were awful (The Canon).
