King tries to do a haunted cell phone story and comes the closest I've ever seen anyone to making it work. It's well-written and a breeze to read, but nothing really happens.

The impressive thing about this book is that I despise the actual writing, but the detective work is good enough that I'm still reading.

Slow going. It's not bad.

Second tier King but still entertaining

That was "The Electric Executioner." Don't have much to say about it.

This is way too serious.

That was "The Mound." Another riff on The Nameless City.

That was "Hour of the Dragon," a full length novel. I like REH's short fiction better. This one kind of rambled until we got a battle wrap up and felt more like a bunch of shorts stitched together.

That was "Out of the Aeons." Pretty good! His style got in the way of the twist, though.

That was "the Scarlet Citadel." Conan doing some killin.

That was "in the Walls of Eryx." Kind of an sf story. Fun!

Pretty standard zombie stuff with juuuuuust enough of a twist.

That was "The Phoenix on the Sword." A late, King Conan story, I think.

That was "The Horror in the Museum" It's a dimensional shambler! Cool!

That was "The Green Meadow." I've already forgotten it.

That was "The Disinterment." Not bad!

Schaefer is usually such a reliable technician that the laziness of the writing in the 3rd installment is shocking.
