Maybe this will come out okay, but to have the terrorist be aggrieved by the betrayal of the Kurds, though it's clear he may be way more pathological and just using them as an excuse, is an insult to the Kurds. Yes, Trump betrayed them big time, but he wasn't the first westerner to do it, and meanwhile the Kurds are the Ukrainians of the Middle East. They wouldn't do this.

Really enjoying how for once, constantly talking about characters' feelings is not just gratuitous woman-splaining, but in fact is a vital part of the story.

This series started out as what I called "Western Noir" mysteries with a dark and troubled investigator but with this third book, is morphing into a political thriller. Barbara Nickless is a fantastic story-teller!
