still love this book, but can’t help but wish kuang wasn’t as heavy handed when introducing the hesperians and their white savior beliefs. obviously i agree with what she’s doing here and the statement she’s saying, it just seems so jarring and almost not aligned with the system she’s set up. it feels like she thinks we’re too dumb to understand if it were more nuanced? hoping i’ll change my mind
