I started with Soul Music, but then realized I wanted to learn more about Death and also Susan's parents -- so I dropped that one and cycled back here. I'm back on my sci-fi/steampunk bullshit, I guess?

I thought I was going to start off with a new, cosy mystery. Last year was mega-rough and I forgot how to read anything but fanfic for a while there ... but then Bridgerton premiered, and I realized I should probably start with an old favorite: my first historical romance novel. Tessa Dare and Julia Quinn always seem to jumpstart things for me. So, let's hope this holds up!

I guessed whodunit pretty early on, but I still really enjoyed this one! Georgie’s voice is refreshing, and Darcy’s appearances were great.

I switched to the first Turner book mostly because even though I'm enjoying THE, nobody is kissing and I needed a break.

I like Margaret -- a lot. Ash took a bit longer for me to get comfortable with, but his plot reveal and all of the conversations with the servants helped quite a bit. Kinda disappointed that he's not letting M. get a word in edgewise lately, though, especially after all those monologues.

Like Stacia, I'm not too invested in the conversations between the Wallflowers - unless it's Daisy and Lillian ribbing each other... but all of Simon and Annabelle's interactions are A+ and I hope I get to see another sibling scene between her and Jeremy soon.

This book has the stupidest summary but I am enjoying it immensely.

Oh god, I want to like this really bad but that was the most awkwardly-written description of and reference to a boner I've ever seen. Ever. And I read a lot of fanfic in my day.

I feel like I've been spoiled for engagingly-written male narrators because this guy is just... desperate, and that's saying a lot when it's a Poe retelling that you're reading.

I've heard that people think TLT is the weakest book in the series, but I'm enjoying it just as much as I did the first time around. It's refreshing to have a 12-year-old narrator who actually sounds 12.

I think I'm sensing a pattern in my book choices lately: Deathless, the Grisha books, and now a Bluebeard retelling...

Really? You couldn't come up with something that sounded less like an HP knockoff? Mules and ordinaries? Really?

Compared to the last couple of books I've read, I was hoping for TNA to be a light, fun paranormal. But I can smell a love-triangle from a mile away and it's really souring my experience.
